Notes:
This artwork is a redux of an artwork I created in 2011 or 2012. The original used a cheap premade background and didn’t look too great. This version was created with a full 3D background, a new light setup, a dynamic cloth gown, and more details. It looks fantastic to me and got rave reviews when I posted it on Facebook which made me happy. Here we see the sugar doll doing a devilish tango with death at the gates of hell. I think this is now one of my favorite artworks of mine.
Technical Notes:
About the only thing that stayed the same since the original is the skeleton in the tuxedo. Everything else was updated, overhauled, and changed. I used a traditional, very simple light setup to illuminate the scene. Sometimes less is more. Postwork was also simple with just using a few Photoshop actions and adjustment layers to finish the piece. The most difficult and time consuming part of this scene was the dynamic white gown. I had a little trouble draping her right sleeve over the skeleton’s shoulder but, as you can see, I finally figured out how to do it with a little help from my friends.
