After seeing the Hivewire3D Tiger, I just had to have it because it is so beautiful and the price was really nice too. Then CWRW released the gorgeous White Tiger addon for it and I just HAD to have it too! I came up with the idea for this artwork mainly so I could use my new toys. I was looking for reference photos of white tigers in Bing to get ideas for scenes when “famous female wildlife photographers” popped up as an image category keyword and suddenly this idea popped into my head. I’m glad it did because this turned out to be a wonderful idea even with the technical problems I had along the way with it.
Once again I came up with a scene that was more than my GPU could handle so I had to render this in two pieces then combine the two pieces in postwork. The scene was rendered in Superfly with a single “sun” light and a sky dome creating ambient light. I decided against depth of field for two reasons; one I didn’t want to choose between emphasis on the woman or the tiger and two it would have take way too long to render with all those leaves and ferns. In postwork, I used a single Photoshop action to play with the colors and contrast then used several adjustment layers of my own to further adjust the colors and contrast until I got the look I desired. There were a few “sharp” edges where the various props of the scene met each other in the render. I used the Photoshop “heal” brush on a very soft setting to blend everything together a little better where it was needed most. That’s it!
