Notes:
My second artwork in a series of artworks of the exploratory vessel, The Orville. This one has a cooler blue tone to it and features the ship in orbit of an unknown planet. I like how this one better shows the details of this fine ship. I don’t really have a favorite in the series though. I like them all or I wouldn’t be posting them all!
Technical Notes:
The scene was rendered in Poser with IDL lighting inside of a “space dome”. Since the first artwork in this series, I updated the shaders of the hull with the same shaders I use for car paint. I think the change really makes the ship “pop” and adds a bit more shininess to the hull. I then added the gaseous nebula and additional distant stars to the scene as overlays in postwork. After a few more adjustment layers I was able to finish the artwork using a plug-in filter to further enhance the scene’s coloration.
