I have a poster of the original version of this artwork from 2011 on my wall and every time I look at it, I see what I did wrong. It continued to bother me to the point that I finally decided to give the concept another shot to improve and fix all that I messed up before so I created a new version in 2012. Once again I kept looking at it and seeing all that was wrong with it so I knew I needed to give it one more try at some point. So, here’s the new final version of Nightclub Noir. I replaced the Genesis figure from the 2012 version with V4 with a new dynamic gown and a sultry, sexier pose. The lighting and postwork are also improved.
Once again, I love dynamic cloth! Calculating the dynamics of the singer’s gown actually took longer than rendering the final scene (two hours vs. half an hour). It still wasn’t perfect but thankfully Poser 11 Pro has that wonderful morph tool to fix things like that! (Fixed a couple poke-throughs and smoothed some rough edges.) Unlike the last two versions, I created a volumetric spotlight on the singer in Poser rather than postworking a spotlight. Also in postwork, I enhanced the contrast, added the detail smoke, and added a very slight sepia tint so it isn’t completely black and white while having even more of a vintage feel.
