Notes:
At first I was just playing around and then one thing led to another which spawned one idea which led to yet another. Eventually, I found myself staring at this and was quite stunned with how my initial “I’ll mess around with this until I feel like really creating something” turned into one of my favorite artworks of the year. It’s so creepy and cute! I’m also quite fond of the color scheme which had started out as red and black but then slowly and without any planning ahead became the vintage hues of golden browns and blues. The Cookie character featured is one I created a few years ago called Meringue and the textures for the voodoo doll character are something I’m still working on.
Technical Notes:
This scene came together in such a way that it’s difficult to describe the creative or technical process; I mean because it was just so haphazard and I really didn’t know I was going to create a finished artwork until I actually just finished the artwork. The lighting is a custom IDL setup. I’m rather proud of the scenery. I kept adding more and more props to the background because I wanted more and more details, more clutter. I love the crow and the skull being back there! I created the depth of field effects in Poser 11 Pro (only my second finished P11Pro render). The postwork was mainly a ton of adjustment layers, touch-up painting, addition of borders, and some additional lighting effects.
