The inspiration for this artwork first came to me in 2009. I had run out of ideas for new artworks so I started browsing DeviantArt in the hopes of seeing something that would jump-start my muse. I saw many beautiful and amazing artworks but no inspiration which turned out to be an inspiration for this artwork. Apparently, inspiration can come from anywhere including from “no inspiration”.
When I started on this piece, I wanted it to have a soft and ethereal look. I rendered the scene using a custom IDL light setup and Poser’s own depth of field effects. The most difficult part of this scene was a mix of getting the materials of various elements to look correct (such as the paints on her palette) to work with the human model I chose (I once again tried using Genesis 2 with the DSON plugin and it was almost more trouble than it was worth). Thankfully, I worked out all of the problems and was able to finish the scene. In postwork, I used various techniques, filters, and PS actions to create the final “soft and dreamy” look.
