Is this really my first still life since 2012?? Yes, it is. A 3D still life can be so hit or miss (at least when I’m trying to create them) but this one definitely works. This started as an idea I sketched out around Valentine’s Day and then it sort of took on a life of its own once I began putting the pieces together. This might be my first, or first in a long time, artwork that uses IDL as the main lighting rather than any traditional lights which has given it a much softer look than most of my other artworks. I almost didn’t postwork this artwork because the raw render looked quite good on its own, but I wanted my creamy gold toned idea to come full circle.
