Goodies and Upgrades
As you may have noticed, I made some changes to the D9S website. I upgraded the site to use an SSL security certificate so now the site is more secure than ever and uses the https:// prefix. I also upgraded the DNS which, according to my host, will guarantee 99.9% up-time and faster service for site viewers and users. (All thanks to some fantastic Cyber Monday sales at NameCheap!) The site should be better than ever now!
I also got a couple things to upgrade the site during the Cyber Monday sale at Themify which I haven’t implemented yet but will be doing so soon. The best upgrade will be the ability to post an “announcement banner” at the top of the site for big sales and other important info that’s not to be missed.
I also made a few template modifications to the artwork pages. Actually, I completely redesigned the artwork pages. They should be much easier on the eyes for all devices and screen sizes. I also installed “like” buttons. You can find them at the top of each artwork page right above the artwork image. There is a blue heart to click if you “like” the artwork and a frown face to click if you don’t like the artwork. Be honest! The top most liked artworks will be shown in the widget on the right sidebar. I look forward to seeing which artworks everyone likes most. 🙂
You may have also noticed some Google ads on the site. I apologize for the ads but they have become a necessity. Creating and continuing to work on my art projects isn’t cheap and I need all the help I can get. I tried to make the ads as unobtrusive as possible. If you notice any problematic ads, please let me know. I’ll be setting up a donation button shortly in the site’s sidebar. If I can get enough donations, I’ll take down the ads. I really, really wish I didn’t need to put the ads on my site so I’m hoping I can bring in at least a few small donations to help keep things running without the ads. Thank you for your understanding.
Another feature I’m testing before implementing in the site is the ability for instant downloads straight from the site. I want to be able to offer free downloads of various artist resources including Poser/3D content freebies, product add-ons for my commercial content, 2D design elements, short tutorials, and more. Stay tuned because this will be coming very, very soon. I just want to test out the system a little more before adding it to the site’s code. I think the first downloads will be some updated Poser freebies for Cookie.
All or most of the free downloads will also be available in the D9S Art Shop. The only difference is, to download freebies from the shop you have to register (though I have made registration as simple as possible there) and to download them direct from the site there will be no registration required. I will also setup a page here on the site to keep all the free downloads available in one place for easy access.
My first two brand new commercial content products of the year (yeah, I realize the year is almost over) will be ready for release very soon. My Celia character for V4 is almost ready for submission to Renderosity. I just need to finish the promotional renders then package and submit. With luck, she’ll be released this month. I plan to contact the sales staff and maybe setup something special for her initial release. We shall see!
My other product is SugarCookie which I have partnered with 3D-GHDesign to make DS and Iray compatible. We’ve finished creating the product itself and we’re now working on promotional renders then I’ll submit the whole package to Daz3D.
I have more products planned once these two are completely finished and in stores. I am working on a unique character for M4, several clothing texture sets, one or two more V4 characters, and one or two more special characters for Cookie and/or Mavka. I’ll post my work in progress renders here on the blog once I make some significant progress on these new projects.
