Mid Year News
A few days ago on June 09 was the 13th anniversary of Dream 9 Studios as it was founded in 2006. I can’t believe I’m been a professional digital artist for that long now. Sure, I was an artist before then too but I didn’t “turn pro” until I founded this little art studio. A lot has happened in the digital art world since I started. When I first started out, I was creating products for a site called Poser Pros until it was bought out and then moved to RuntimeDNA in late 2009 until it too was bought out. Now I work for Renderosity and here’s hoping they never get bought out!
Well, it’s now the middle of the year 2019 and so here’s a quick summary of what’s happened at Dream 9 Studios since the start of the year. I have so far created 13 brand new artworks with more on the way. I have sketched out several new artwork ideas for 2019 in addition to the many sketches I have from the previous three years; all of them are contained in my Notebook of Ideas. I plan on creating another new artwork as soon as I finish my next 3D content product.
I’ve also released two Renderosity products this year with more to be released in the coming weeks. The next new product I will release will be a new character named Myla and after that a set of universal hair textures/materials for all of the hair models by Biscuits. I have more ideas for more characters, clothing texture sets, and hair material sets all in the pipeline. It’s just a matter of finding the time and the will to do them all.
I now present to you my brand new original character for the La Femme base and Poser 11, Myla. She’s almost ready for submission to the Renderosity store. I just need to finish a few more little things and then she will be completed. I’ve never made a character for this base model before and I’m really happy/proud of how well she turned out. If she sells well enough, I may create another character for the La Femme base. To know when she is released, stay tuned to this website (I’ll add a product page for her when she is released) or sign up for our newsletter for D9S news delivered right to your email inbox.
I have another 3D content product in the works which is a set of hair textures/materials for all of the hair models by the Renderosity artist Biscuits. You can see a preview of the hair textures/materials in the above promotional render for Myla (I used them on the Biscuits hair model shown). I hope to have the hair set ready in another week or two. It will contain a variety of realistic hair colors, a selection of dyed hair colors, and several mixes of the aforementioned colors.
I have more ideas for new products but I will wait until I make some significant progress on them before announcing them or showing work in progress previews. If all works out the way I’m hoping, I’ll have some previews and announcements ready for you in my next news update or the update after that; probably next month.
I also have a brand new artwork ready for viewing. The new artwork is titled She’s a Rainbow and it was inspired by the Rolling Stones song of the same name with a psychedelic feel. It has already won a “Poser Staff Pick of the Week” over at the Renderosity art gallery so yay. Once I finish working on my Myla character set, I will work on a brand new artwork or two before going back to work on the Shelby Bly Project. Stay tuned to this website or join the newsletter to find out when new artworks are ready for viewing.
I’m not sure what the next artwork’s theme will be but if you’d like to suggest what themes I should work on first, vote in the poll seen at the right of this page in the sidebar. I will heed the wishes of the people!
That’s all for now. I’ll see you next time (probably next month) with another news update and more new art for you to see and enjoy. Thank you for reading and following my progress. Take care out there!
