As I wrote in my previous post, Hitting the Restart Button, I had been unable to create new art since mid-December of last year due to being overwhelmed by anxiety every time I tried even opening an art program. Well, I finally managed to overcome my anxiety and create some new art! Words cannot express how great it feels to be an artist again. It’s like a part of me has been missing for the past seven months and now it’s back. I’m starting to feel like “me” again.
Anyway, since that previous news update, I have four new artworks to share with you all! The first two are redux artworks as I thought that would be the best/easiest type of project to start with. The two redux artworks are Autumn Awaits and Sunrise Recital. After completing those two redux artworks and building up my confidence, I created two brand new artworks. The two brand new artworks are Lingering and On the Prowl. I’m working on more new art now but it will be a short while before I have something new to post. I’ll explain that here in a minute. First, the artworks!
There will be more new artworks very soon. I created another artwork right after On the Prowl but decided not to release it as-is and to put it on the backburner for a while until I can figure out how to make it better. After that, I created an entry for the Fun in the Sun 2021 contest over at the Unofficial 3D Forums. You can now see my entry by clicking here if you’re a member of the forum (join today! it’s free!). After that, I created a commission for my best friend that won’t be published anywhere, it’s just for him. Right now I’m working on a new artwork that I will be able to publish here in my gallery just as soon as it’s finished but it will take another day or so. Once that one is finished, I’m going to create another contest entry this time for a contest over at Renderosity.
I also have some new toys for my art projects! I had been using an older version of Photoshop but I saw in the news that Adobe was sending letters to various users of older Photoshop versions that if they didn’t stop using them and upgrade, they would be sued. I didn’t want to risk that happening to me so I went ahead and pre-emptively purchased a Creative Cloud subscription. Now I have the very latest version of Photoshop CC and a brand new toy that is Adobe Lightroom! Yes, for reasons I will never understand, if you purchase a subscription for just Photoshop it’s $20 a month but if you get the plan with Photoshop and Lightroom then it’s $10 a month. I’ve no idea how that makes sense but I’m certainly happy about it! I love Lightroom! I created my artwork On the Prowl mainly so I would have something to play with in Lightroom after I had followed a few tutorials. That render was rather flat before Lightroom and now after it looks like a nature photo that really “pops”.
Another thing that came with my new Creative Cloud subscription is that I joined Behance. If you’re also on the Behance network and would like to give me a follow, I’d much appreciate it and I’ll follow you back. I’ll still be on DeviantArt and Artstation as well plus Instagram. I’ve thought about joining Pinterest but haven’t decided yet. I do have an active account now at Tumblr though where I make posts myself rather than send automated posts from this blog so it’s way better now if you want to give that a follow.
That’s all I can think to write for right now. I’ll have more brand new art to share with you all very soon! Thanks for viewing and it’s so great to be an artist again!
