It’s been a couple months since my last WIP post but I once again have several projects in the works and this time it’s not just commercial content projects that I have going on! Read on to see what all I am currently in the process of working on as I am apparently incapable of concentrating on only one project at a time.
Allow me to introduce you to she who will probably be my last La Femme character of 2020. She’s a realistic looking freckled woman with custom sculpted facial features. I will most likely be naming her D9S Fiona. Like my two most recently released La Femme characters, Fiona has interchangeable eyebrows with different styles and colors plus matching eyelashes. Unlike any of my previous characters, Fiona has a new skin shader that has been optimized for Poser 12 but will also work in Poser 11 for those who have yet to upgrade. She will include a variety of realistic makeups (one set of eye shadows with eyeliner and one set without) plus two sets of mix and match lip colors (one with a metallic gloss and the other set with a matte finish). Tonight I am in the process of creating her eye textures, nail polish options, and perhaps a few other to be announced features. I hope to have Fiona finished in another week or so.
Here is a character for Victoria 4 that I started on quite a while ago but recently rediscovered and decided to finish and release to the public (mostly as a companion to my D9S Rickard character for Michael 4). This is Carina, a fearless doe-eyed brunette. I’m still perfecting her facial features but I’m getting ever closer to the look I wish to achieve. Her main skin texture is mostly complete but I have yet to start on all of her texture options. Carina will of course have all the usual options (makeup options, eye colors, etc.) I want to finish the aforementioned Fiona first but I plan to continue work on Carina next as there are some artworks I have planned that I wish to create with her once finished… but first I have to actually finish the character! No ETA on when she will be finished as it just depends on how long it takes me to perfect her features.
Free Superfly Updates
This isn’t a commercial project per se, but a series of free updates for my previous commercially released characters. I am in the process of releasing free sets of brand new Superfly presets for my older characters that were created before Superfly was a thing. Each of these free updates will be released in Renderosity’s Free Stuff section. I have so far created presets for D9S Vespera, D9S Hailee, and D9S Hailee Harlequin Addon. I plan on releasing more sets soon including for Nicola, Miria, Rickard, Stella, Gianna, and Celia… perhaps even in that order… or perhaps not. Stay tuned! This will be an ongoing project in my spare time until I have finished material sets for all of my old characters. Shown at left is my start on the material presets for D9S Nicola.
Dreamy La Hippie
Here we have an in-progress psychedelic set of textures and material shaders for the La Hippie dress by RPublishing and 3DTubeMagic. I may also include in my set bonus textures/materials for the La Hippie Boots by the same vendors but sold separately. I shall use my usual naming convention and call this set Dreamy La Hippie. I’m quite the fan, and have been for a long time, of 1960s fashion so this should be a really fun set to create. I’m hoping to have this set finished long before the end of this year but we’ll see as I have a lot on my plate apparently. This set will have a more psychedelic and late-60s hippie style than mid-60s mod style. I’ll save my mod ideas for another garment model for La Femme. More on that later once I start work on some actual designs as it’s currently only an idea in my head at the moment. I haven’t decided how many designs to include in this set as it’s still early in the brainstorming stage.
Unlike my previous clothing set, I hope to get this one done sooner rather than later so it’s “just in time for the holidays”. This set is for the Cozy Dress for La Femme by outoftouch which is included with Poser 11 and Poser 12 otherwise it is available separately from Renderosity. The set will be named Cozy Holiday and will consist of knitted winter holiday themed textures enhanced with shaders for both Superfly and Firefly. What you see at left is my first attempt at one of the designs. The texture isn’t quite perfect yet (the knitting at the collar doesn’t line up correctly just yet so I need to fix that) but I’m getting there. I’ve almost come up with a good shader setup for Superfly for these sweater dresses (as seen as left) but I still need to work on similar shaders for Firefly which shouldn’t be too difficult. I plan to create around six to eight designs for this set.
I actually have already written my first tutorial and posted it over at Renderosity in their free tutorial section. You can find it here: How to Convert DS Props for Use In Poser Via DSON Plugin. I plan to write more along with some shorter posts with simple tips and tricks, render settings, etc. I’ll be posting some at Renderosity but most of them I’ll be posting here in a new section on the new v2021 Dream 9 Studios website which I’m still in the midst of building (more on that in a bit). I’m working on what to write and post now, taking notes and the like as I work to decide later what may be most useful to others. Stay tuned to the News for when these tutorials and more are posted.
I started work on this set a couple months ago but I still haven’t gotten very far with it. This will be named Dreamy Mai for the Dynamic Mai Outfit for La Femme by RPublishing. I really like this draped outfit and I still want to create a set for it but I just haven’t figured out exactly what direction to go with it yet. I’ll keep working on this one, off and on, while I work on the others until I come up with something really good. So far the texture at left is all I have and I can’t even decide on what shaders to create for it. I’ll keep at it…
Dream 9 Studios v2021
I’m in the midst of working on a brand new version of this website for the year 2021 with tons of new features. The difficult and PITA to code each time I add a new artwork to the gallery shop will be deleted. Don’t worry, you’ll still be able to order prints via a simple and easy to use online order form. I’ll have added two additional order forms for the ordering of greeting cards and other printed gifts including puzzles, coasters, and more. I’ll also be adding a showcase of my 3D content products that are both commercially available and freebies, there will be the aforementioned tutorial section, and more. I now have roughly half the site completed but there’s still quite a bit of work to be done and then I’ll have to go through the entire site and test everything before it’s ready for primetime. I hope to launch the new site in time for the new year if not shortly before the new year.
I have more planned but just not ready to be shown or considered “in progress” yet. I have a list four more clothing models to create texture sets for and ideas for six more characters including two more for La Femme, two more for L’Homme, one for Victoria 4, and one for Michael 4. I’ll probably be posting another WIP post before the end of this month if my productivity keeps up at the pace it is currently going. Otherwise, there will be such a post in early December.
That’s all for now. Thank you for viewing and take care!
