Notes:
Wow, my first finished artwork since the beginning of February. This is also my first artwork since having to fix my computer by reinstalling the OS and everything else. It’s also my first artwork using both Poser Pro 2014 and Victoria 6 via DSON for Poser. The DSON plug-in has gotten a lot better since the first time I tried it over a year ago and I’m really enjoying working with the new Genesis 2 series of figures which includes V6. When I decided to sit down and create an artwork, I didn’t know what to do at first. I looked over at the wall behind my desk and saw a poster of an old artwork of mine featuring a female pirate that I always thought I could have done better. So, I just started from scratch and created a new artwork with a similar theme.
I originally thought I had this artwork finished back in November but after looking at it again, I realized you couldn’t see any water behind her but instead just more sky. I had to go back and do the postwork all over again to correct this mistake that I can’t believe I didn’t notice until now. NOW it’s finished and I’m quite pleased with how it FINALLY turned out.
Technical Notes:
As mentioned, I created this using Victoria 6 which is based on Daz3D’s Genesis 2 Female. I worked on this completely in Poser Pro 2014 using the DSON importer which worked wonderfully for the figure, her clothes, and her hair (I can’t stand to use Daz Studio which is why I chose not to use Genesis figures until they were compatible with Poser). The rest of the scene was created using native Poser props and figures. The light setup is IDL based that I created just for this scene. I enhanced the finished render in Photoshop CS6 using a variety of filters and actions to adjust the depth of field perception, colors and contrast, and to enhance the details plus fixed a few little poke-through errors here and there. I also used an overlay to add a more vivid sunset in the background using layers and a rendered mask.
