Notes:
I created this artwork specifically for the 2019 Renderosity Halloween Contest. This year’s theme is “Ever Watching Eyes”. Although I created this in September, I won’t be able to post it until the contest is over later this year. I’ll update this post with whether I placed in the contest or not when I find out.
EDIT: I didn’t place in the contest but that’s okay; I’m still happy and hey, I won the Holiday Card Contest so that’s awesome.
Technical Notes:
I used the Render Studio 2014 HDR Lights for this along with a soft moonlight projector to light this scene. The cobwebs on the window were added in postwork with one of Rons brushes. The little girl ghost effect was surprisingly simple yet effective; just a couple color dodge layers of orange over the render of the little girl. I created two renders, one with and one without the little girl so I could lower the opacity of the girl in the final combined scene to enhance the ghost effect. I tried adding tears to the woman’s face in postwork but that didn’t turn out too well and I think she looks fine without them. The setting of the old house window was built for Daz Studio but I was able to convert it to Poser then adjust all of the materials by hand to make them work. Other than the little girl ghost effects, postwork was minimal with a few adjustments and actions to make it look like more of the night scene and some color corrections.
